ARK Server Cost: 2026 Price Analysis (Evolved & Ascended)
How much does an ARK server cost in 2026? Real prices from €11.99/mo, plan-by-plan breakdown, RAM by player count and ASA vs ASE.
How much does an ARK server cost in 2026?
A dedicated ARK server costs between €11.99 and €167.99 per month, depending on RAM, player slots and whether you run the newer ARK: Survival Ascended. For a typical tribe playing ARK: Survival Evolved, you can expect to pay around €12/month; a large public cluster on Survival Ascended with 200 slots tops out near €168/month.
The three providers we compare for ARK are Minestrator (French datacenter, AMD Ryzen 9900X, the cheapest entry point), Shockbyte (English 24/7 support, high slot counts) and Nitrado, the official host endorsed by Studio Wildcard. All prices below come directly from their live ARK plans — no estimates.
The short answer
ARK server price breakdown (per plan)
Here are representative ARK plans currently available in our ARK hosting comparison, sorted by monthly price. The range spans a 10-player vanilla box up to a 200-slot Nitrado server built for huge public clusters.
| Plan | Provider | RAM | Slots | Storage | Price / month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| My box 8 | Minestrator | 8 GB | 10 | 50 GB NVMe | €11.99 |
| Raptor | Shockbyte | 10 GB | 30 | SSD | €12.88 |
| 10 Slots | Nitrado | Per-slot | 10 | SSD | €13.09 |
| Pteranodon | Hosterfy | 12 GB | Unlimited | 30 GB NVMe | €14.99 |
| Raptor | Hosterfy | 16 GB | Unlimited | 40 GB NVMe | €19.99 |
| My box 16 | Minestrator | 16 GB | 20 | 120 GB NVMe | €23.99 |
| Rex | Hosterfy | 32 GB | Unlimited | 100 GB NVMe | €29.99 |
| My box 24 | Minestrator | 24 GB | 50 | 200 GB NVMe | €35.99 |
| Rex | Shockbyte | 16 GB+ | 125 | SSD | €42.94 |
| 200 Slots | Nitrado | Per-slot | 200 | SSD | €167.99 |
The key takeaway: Minestrator and Hosterfy price by RAM, while Nitrado and Shockbyte price by player slots. That is why Nitrado scales so steeply — a 10-slot box is €13.09, but 200 slots reaches €167.99. For most tribes, paying for RAM rather than raw slot count is the better deal.
What actually drives the price of an ARK server?
Four factors explain almost the entire €11.99–€167.99 range:
- RAM — the single biggest cost lever. 8–10 GB is the floor for vanilla Survival Evolved; mods, multiple maps and Survival Ascended push you toward 16–32 GB.
- ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) vs Survival Evolved (ASE) — ASA runs on Unreal Engine 5 and needs 16 GB or more, so an ASA server costs noticeably more than the same-size ASE box.
- Player slots — Nitrado and Shockbyte bill per slot, so large public servers climb fast. Minestrator and Hosterfy include generous (or unlimited) slots and charge for RAM instead.
- Clusters — running several maps under one ClusterID multiplies the RAM (and therefore the cost) you need, since each map is effectively its own server instance.
Server location matters too
ASA vs ASE: which version should you host?
This is the decision that most affects your budget. ARK: Survival Evolved (ASE) is the original 2017 game; ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) is the 2023 Unreal Engine 5 remaster — visually richer, but far heavier on the server.
ASA needs 16 GB+, ASE runs on 8–10 GB
In short: choose ASE if you want the lowest cost, the largest mod library and an established community — an 8–10 GB box is plenty. Choose ASA if you want the modern visuals and don't mind paying for the 16 GB+ tier. Either way, confirm the host explicitly supports the version you want before ordering — not every plan is ASA-ready.
How much RAM (and budget) do you really need?
Pick your plan based on tribe size, mods and whether you run ASE or ASA. The ranges below map directly to the real plans above.
Small tribe (vanilla ASE)
RAM: 8 to 10 GB
Players: 5 to 15
Price: €11.99–€20/month
✓ Ideal for: A standard tribe playing vanilla Survival Evolved. Minestrator My box 8 (€11.99) is the best value; Shockbyte Raptor (€12.88) adds 30 slots.
Mid-size server with mods (or ASA)
RAM: 12 to 16 GB
Players: 15 to 30
Price: €14.99–€40/month
✓ Ideal for: Modded Survival Evolved or a Survival Ascended server. Minestrator My box 16 (€23.99) or Hosterfy Raptor (16 GB, €19.99) handle this comfortably.
Large community server
RAM: 16 to 24 GB
Players: 30 to 60
Price: €35.99–€70/month
✓ Ideal for: Big public servers and heavy mod packs. Minestrator My box 24 (24 GB, 50 slots, €35.99) gives the most RAM per euro.
Public server / cluster
RAM: 24 GB and up
Players: 60 to 200
Price: €60–167.99/month
✓ Ideal for: Multi-map clusters and very large public servers. Nitrado scales per slot to 200 players (€167.99) as the official high-end option.
The best value pick
For most players on Survival Evolved, Minestrator My box 8 at €11.99/month is the smartest buy: 8 GB of RAM, 10 slots, NVMe storage and a France-based Ryzen 9900X node. Step up to My box 16 (16 GB, €23.99) once you start stacking mods or move to Survival Ascended.
Is Nitrado the best choice just because it is official?
Nitrado is the official ARK host recommended by Studio Wildcard, with a dedicated panel and fast access to game updates — a genuine plus, especially for cluster management. But "official" does not automatically mean best value. Its live support is English-only with reported delays, and its per-slot pricing climbs steeply for large servers.
For French-speaking tribes, Minestrator often delivers better performance per euro thanks to its Ryzen 9900X nodes in France and French support (Tuesday to Saturday). Shockbyte is the pick if you want very high slot counts (up to 125) with 24/7 English support and detailed ARK documentation. The honest answer: pick Nitrado for official cluster tooling and the highest public-server slots, Minestrator for value and low ping, Shockbyte for big slot counts in English.
Should you rent monthly or pay longer-term?
All the plans above are billed per month (Nitrado's slots are sold in 30-day blocks), with no long commitment required. That makes ARK hosting easy to start and stop around game updates and seasonal play. If your tribe only plays intensively after a major patch or for a wipe season, a monthly plan means you simply cancel when the group takes a break — there is no need to buy a server outright.
