Palworld 1.0 Server Update: What Changed
Palworld 1.0 is out (July 10, 2026): crossplay with PS5 and Xbox, the 16 GB RAM baseline, save migration and the critical mod warning — what server admins must do now.
Palworld officially left early access on July 10, 2026. Version 1.0 is the biggest update the game has ever received: 72 new Pals (287 total), the World Tree endgame, the Sunreach sky island, Genetic Recombination breeding — and a simultaneous launch on PS5, Xbox and Game Pass with full crossplay.
For server admins, that last point changes everything. Here is exactly what 1.0 changes for your server, how to update without corrupting your world, and what to do if you're starting fresh.
What Palworld 1.0 changes at a glance
| Change | Impact on your server |
|---|---|
| Official 1.0 release (July 10, 2026) | The game is no longer early access — player counts exploded at launch |
| PS5, Xbox & Game Pass launch + crossplay | Console players can now join your server — but only through the community server list |
| 72 new Pals, World Tree, Sunreach island | More entities and new zones to generate: RAM and CPU usage went up |
| Genetic Recombination (breeding rework) | More breeding activity in bases, slightly heavier server load |
| New mission and reward structure | Existing saves keep bases and Pals, but mission progress is recalculated |
The headline for hosting: Pocketpair now recommends 16 GB of RAM as the comfortable baseline for a dedicated server. Small groups can still run on 8 GB with regular restarts, but the days of squeezing a busy server into 8 GB are over. Our Palworld RAM guide has the full breakdown by player count.
Update your server before anything else
Since 1.0, version synchronization is strict: an outdated server rejects updated clients with an "incompatible version" error. Your players update their game automatically through Steam or their console store — your server doesn't.

One mod at a time
Your save survives — but not everything carries over
Good news: existing worlds are fully playable in 1.0. Bases, captured Pals, items and structures all carry over. However, Pocketpair reworked progression, so a few things are recalculated on first load:
What changes in a migrated save
- •Main and sub-mission progress is reset to fit the new mission and reward structure
- •Bounty history is reset
- •Accumulated XP is recalculated under the new curve
- •Tower boss missions auto-complete based on the bosses you had already beaten
- •New 1.0 zones (World Tree, Sunreach) appear in your existing world
Pocketpair still recommends a fresh world to experience the new story missions cleanly. For an established community, a good compromise is running the migrated world as the main server and spinning up a second, smaller instance for players who want a from-scratch 1.0 run.
Crossplay: the biggest reason to rent a server now
Palworld 1.0 launched day-one on PS5, Xbox and Game Pass, and crossplay now spans Steam, Xbox, PS5 and Mac on the same dedicated server. One server, all your friends, whatever they play on.
There's a catch that matters a lot for how you host:
Console players can't join by IP
In practice, if anyone in your group plays on console, a hosted server is by far the simplest route: the host registers your server in the community list, keeps it updated, and your console friends find it by name. We cover the full setup in our Palworld crossplay server guide.
Sizing your server for 1.0
Between the new zones, 72 extra Pal species and the launch-wave player influx, Palworld's server footprint grew with 1.0. Community feedback since July 10 points to the same pattern: memory usage climbs during long sessions, so scheduled restarts (once a day) remain best practice.
Small group (2-4 players)
RAM: 8 GB
Players: 2 to 4 players
Price: ~€8-12/month
✓ Ideal for: Still viable in 1.0 with a daily restart. Pick a plan you can upgrade in one click if your group grows.
The 1.0 sweet spot (5-16 players)
RAM: 16 GB
Players: 5 to 16 players
Price: ~€15-25/month
✓ Ideal for: Pocketpair's recommended baseline. Handles the new endgame zones, active bases and breeding without lag.
Community server (16-32 players)
RAM: 24-32 GB
Players: 16 to 32 players
Price: ~€30-60/month
✓ Ideal for: For public 1.0 servers riding the launch wave. Dedicated resources and a strong CPU are non-negotiable.
