PalWorldSettings.ini: configure a Palworld server

Find the active PalWorldSettings.ini file, configure passwords and gameplay rates and troubleshoot Palworld settings that do not apply.

To change Palworld server rules, edit the active PalWorldSettings.ini after the first startup. Editing only DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini does not change the live configuration. Back up existing settings before adopting a different template.

Locate the active file

Relative to the server installation, the path depends on the operating system:

Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini
Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini

Stop the server before manual edits. For a new installation, copy the template supplied with the installed version into the active location. For an existing server, retain its values: replacing the entire file with an online example may reset useful settings.

Preserve the template's section, OptionSettings structure, parentheses, commas and quotation marks. The parameters discussed below are fields to locate, not a complete replacement configuration.

Choose settings by their effect

ServerPassword controls player entry; AdminPassword grants administration rights. Use separate secrets. ServerPlayerMaxNum controls player capacity but does not establish that your plan can comfortably handle that many players.

For progression, review ExpRate, CollectionDropRate and DeathPenalty. Change one group of rules at a time. PalEggDefaultHatchingTime concerns a Huge Egg, rather than setting an identical incubation duration for every egg.

BaseCampMaxNumInGuild, BaseCampWorkerMaxNum and PalSpawnNumRate can increase workload. Avoid maximizing everything before observing a representative session. Understand automatic inactive-guild deletion settings before enabling them.

Separate startup from world configuration

PublicPort advertises an external port; it does not change the listening port. The latter is controlled through the -port startup argument. Current documentation uses CrossplayPlatforms; the older AllowConnectPlatform setting is no longer applicable.

If your provider supplies a configuration form, check whether it regenerates the file on startup. Use a consistent editing method and inspect the file after restarting to detect overwritten values.

Verify a change safely

Begin with an observable, non-destructive setting and reconnect. If old rules persist, compare the active file, panel settings and options carried by an imported world. Archive affected files before repairs; deleting a save is not a sensible first response to an unapplied multiplier.

You can also compare the terms on our Minestrator profile.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my edits disappear?
The panel may regenerate the file at startup. Also confirm that you are editing the active directory rather than DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini.
Can I reuse an entire older configuration?
Start with the installed version’s template and transfer the intended values. Parameters can be removed or change behavior.

Continue with: server backups, network troubleshooting, measuring workload.
