How to Make a Soulmask Server in 2026

How do you create a dedicated Soulmask server, hosted or on your own PC? SteamCMD, ports, RAM requirements and config, step by step.

Want your tribe to build and defend a persistent base together, without one person always hosting? A dedicated Soulmask server keeps your world running 24/7. Here's how to set one up, both ways โ€” and why Soulmask's RAM appetite makes this choice matter more than for a lighter game.

The two ways to create a Soulmask server

Option 1: host with a provider

You rent a Soulmask server from a specialised host. It runs 24/7, comes with a panel for files and backups, and includes DDoS protection. See our [Soulmask server cost guide](/en/guides/soulmask/soulmask-server-cost) for real prices from โ‚ฌ14.99/month.

Option 2: run the server on your PC

You install the dedicated server via SteamCMD and run it at home. Free on the software side, but the server process alone typically needs 12+ GB of RAM โ€” that's a real requirement most gaming PCs can meet, but you'll want headroom left over for anything else running.

Check your RAM before self-hosting

Soulmask's server process alone commonly consumes 12+ GB of RAM. If your PC doesn't clear that with room to spare, self-hosting will be unstable regardless of your internet connection.

Creating a Soulmask server on your own PC

1

Install SteamCMD

Download SteamCMD and extract it to a folder, e.g. C:\SoulmaskServer.
2

Download the dedicated server files

Run: steamcmd.exe +login anonymous +force_install_dir C:\SoulmaskServer +app_update 3017310 validate +quit. That's AppID 3017310 for the Windows server (3017300 on Linux) โ€” the game client itself is a separate AppID (2646460) and shouldn't be installed on a server box.
3

Open your ports

Soulmask uses UDP 8777 for game traffic and UDP 27015 for server queries/listing by default. Optionally, ports 18888 and 19000 enable remote admin tools, giving you a safe shutdown path without risking save corruption.
4

Configure your server

Edit WS/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/Engine.ini (or the Linux equivalent path) to set your server name, max players, ports and game mode parameters.
5

Launch and keep it running

Start the server executable. Your PC needs to stay on, awake, and clear of memory pressure from other programs while the server runs.

RAM is the real bottleneck here

Frequently asked questions about creating a Soulmask server

What ports does Soulmask need forwarded?
UDP 8777 for game traffic and UDP 27015 for queries, at minimum. Ports 18888 and 19000 are optional for remote admin access.
What is the Soulmask dedicated server's Steam AppID?
3017310 for Windows, 3017300 for Linux. The game client (2646460) is a different AppID and doesn't belong on a server.
How much RAM does self-hosting Soulmask really need?
12+ GB just for the server process, before accounting for anything else running on the same machine. This is significantly heavier than most co-op survival games.
