The two ways to create a V Rising server

Option 1: host with a provider

Option 2: run the server on your PC

You install the free dedicated server tool via SteamCMD and run it at home. You don't need to own the game on the machine running the server, but it needs to stay on and you handle port forwarding yourself.

Which option should you choose?

Creating a V Rising server with a host (recommended)

Choose your plan based on player count and platform

Order and access the panel

After ordering, you receive panel access by email. Your server appears in Stopped status, ready to configure.

Set your server name, password and max players

Most panels expose the key ServerHostSettings.json fields directly.

Start the server and connect

Start it from the panel, then connect in-game via the server browser or direct IP if your host provides one.

Creating a V Rising server on your own PC

Install SteamCMD

Download SteamCMD and extract it to a folder, e.g. C:\steamcmd.

Download the dedicated server files

Run: steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir "C:\VRisingServer" +app_update 1829350 validate +quit. AppID 1829350 installs anonymously — you don't need to own the game on that account.

Open your ports

V Rising uses UDP 27015 for game traffic and UDP 27016 for the Steam query/listing port by default, both configurable in ServerHostSettings.json. If you enable RCON, it defaults to TCP 25575.

Copy your settings to the save-data folder

After the first run, copy VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/Settings/ServerHostSettings.json and ServerGameSettings.json into a new <serverdirectory>/save-data/Settings folder. Skipping this step risks losing your configuration on the next update.

Launch and keep it running

Start the server executable. Your PC needs to stay on and awake for the world to stay accessible.
