Conan Exiles server lag: large bases, mods and resources

Associate the incident with an edition and version

Record Legacy or Enhanced, the server version and active mods. An Enhanced fix does not establish an improvement in Legacy. Funcom's June 2026 update improved loading placed decorations from the database, but that does not guarantee smooth performance for every modded base.

Check compatible updates and retain a backup before applying them. If the slowdown followed a change, identify it precisely.

Compare a dense base with a quiet area

Have two players visit the same locations and observe FPS and interaction delay. If only one client stutters, examine its rendering and connection. If several players encounter the same delays, record the time and inspect the server panel.

Do not begin by demolishing a base. A world copy permits comparison without sacrificing community buildings.

Inspect mods and resources together

Retain mod versions and load order. Review compatibility warnings, especially after an Enhanced update. Disabling a content mod requires a copy and recovery plan because world objects may depend on it.

Compare incidents with memory, CPU load, save activity and log errors. Shutdown after memory exhaustion, a save-related pause and an unstable connection need different responses.

Make a hosting decision measurable

Collect a reproducible scenario: player count, location, test duration, mod list and measurements. Ask support to inspect effective instance limits during that window.

If moving is justified, test the same world copy at the destination with the same players and actions. Comparing an empty world with your ordinary server is not meaningful. Keep the source until buildings, characters and a restart are verified, and confirm both plans use the intended edition.
