What to check before renting modpack hosting

Collect these details before comparing plans:

• The full pack name and release number.
• The exact Minecraft version and loader: Forge, NeoForge or Fabric.
• The author's server pack download, when available.
• Required Java version and recommended server memory.
• Expected simultaneous players and their region.
• The world you will import, its size and your backup needs.

Server pack vs client pack

A launcher instance is designed for playing. It can contain shaders, interface tools and other files that do not belong on a dedicated server. A server pack provides the hosting files and may include a specific startup process.

NitroServ documents the distinction in its serverpack preparation guide. Prefer the pack author's server archive and instructions when one exists. Do not simply copy your whole PC installation.

For packs missing from an automatic installer, ask whether you can upload the files and run the required script. Support for a custom JAR alone does not prove the host supports every startup command the pack uses.
