Move a Palworld co-op world to a dedicated server

Transfer a Palworld co-op save, map player identities and verify bases, guilds and Pals before retiring the original session.

Moving Palworld co-op to a dedicated server lets friends join without waiting for the host. Player identity is the delicate part: importing terrain does not guarantee that everyone recovers their character. Keep the source session intact until the group verifies the result.

Identify the source save

Steam saves on Windows live under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\. Close the source game and archive the complete folder. Record character names, guilds and expected bases.

PC Game Pass uses the different WGS format. NitroServ documents support through its import tool when the save is available on Windows. An Xbox alone does not directly expose those files, and its documentation excludes PS5 save exports. These import limitations differ from whether a platform can join a server.

Use NitroServ's assisted importer

The Manager provides an Import Map tab. For this assisted workflow, keep the destination running during preparation: the tool manages the later shutdown and restart.

  1. Select the requested ZIP or folder. For Steam, NitroServ requests the complete SteamID folder.
  2. Let the tool analyze the save.
  3. Have the required players join the destination to create profiles for mapping.
  4. Verify each old-to-new character association and remain connected during this stage.
  5. Start conversion after checking the mapping and wait for the managed restart.

This differs from a manual SFTP file replacement, which requires stopping the server first. Also protect any existing destination world before replacing it.

Consider another provider's workflow

For Steam, a community converter such as TroubleChute's can remap identifiers using the world directory and destination accounts. It is not an official Pocketpair tool. Check compatibility with your save version and operate on a copy.

Do not blindly run an old conversion script or upload only the host's character file. World and player data must stay consistent; the precise procedure depends on the tool and source format.

Validate before moving the group

Ask every player to check level, guild, inventory and Pals. Inspect bases and storage, then review server rules. Multipliers, passwords and allowed platforms may need to be configured separately.

If a character is missing, revisit mapping on a copy rather than accumulating progress on an unintended new profile. After a successful save and restart, retain the original archive as a recovery point.

Frequently asked questions

Does the co-op host have to create a new permanent character?
Identifier mapping is intended to preserve that character. Verify the converted result; a plain world upload does not guarantee character continuity.
Can this method import a PS5 save?
NitroServ documents a PS5 export limitation. Confirm support for your exact source platform before ordering hosting for migration alone.
