Install Workshop Mods and OpenMod Plugins on Unturned
Add Workshop files by ID, then install OpenMod beside Rocket, without mixing the two directories.
A Workshop mod and an OpenMod plugin do not share a folder. Workshop IDs go in WorkshopDownloadConfig.json. OpenMod is a module copied into Modules on the U3DS install.
The server should already boot. If it does not, use the setup guide. Commands.dat is in the configuration guide.
Copy the world before the first ID
Run Shutdown, then copy Servers/<ServerID>/ off the machine. Write down the current File_IDs and whether Modules already contains Rocket or OpenMod. A workshop load that fails is fixed by removing the last ID, not by deleting the level.
Joining players download Workshop files automatically. A server plugin does not install itself on their game the same way. Do not tell the group that a Workshop subscription covers a custom admin command.
The ID is the number in the URL
The file sits in the server folder with the rest of the config. The studio's example is the Hawaii map:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1753134636
The ID is 1753134636. Put it in File_IDs, with a comma between numbers. On startup the server installs those files and their dependencies. Players download them while connecting.
Official maps PEI, Washington, Yukon, Russia and Germany are selected with Map in Commands.dat. Curated maps, including Hawaii, Greece and Elver, are Workshop items. The hosting page keeps the ID table. Copy the ID from that page or from the URL.
Map still has to be the name the mod expects. An ID in the list plus Map PEI leaves you on PEI. That is not a failed download.
A trailing comma or a curly quote makes the JSON unreadable. Restore the copy.
OpenMod, without pinning a version this page will stale
Smartly Dressed Games documents two installs.
Manual:
- Download the latest
OpenMod.Unturned.Modulearchive from the OpenMod repository their page links. The filename includes that release's version. This guide does not freeze a number. - Copy the
OpenMod.Unturnedfolder intoModuleson the Unturned install, not intoServers/<ServerID>/. - Start the server. The first boot downloads OpenMod's core and takes longer.
- Plugins come after that. Each plugin's readme says where it belongs. The studio page does not name one universal plugin path.
The other path assumes Rocket is already installed: put the OpenMod installer plugin in /Rocket/Plugins, restart, and run /openmod install. OpenMod can sit beside Rocket. The studio calls it a spiritual successor that keeps Rocket compatibility, not a mandatory replacement.
Plugin failures are outside game support. If the boot loops after the module is added, move OpenMod.Unturned out of Modules, start again, and confirm the vanilla map loads before you add a single extension back.
What a successful reboot looks like
Loading level: 100%, the map you selected, a player who finishes the Workshop download, and the one plugin or command you just added. One change per test.
The backup guide is the next step if the map will not load after a mod is removed. Offers: Unturned comparison.
