How to Make a RuneScape: Dragonwilds Dedicated Server

Install and configure the server

1. Install the free RuneScape: Dragonwilds - Dedicated Servers product from Steam. With SteamCMD, Jagex specifies App ID 4019830 and anonymous login.
2. Start RSDragonwilds.exe on the server machine. Jagex recommends -log -NewConsole launch options to see startup messages.
3. Fill in DedicatedServer.ini while the server is stopped. Jagex lists RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/Linux/DedicatedServer.ini on Linux and RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/DedicatedServer.ini on Windows. Copy the provided template on Windows if necessary. Add the Owner ID shown at the bottom of in-game settings, server name, default world name and a strong admin password.
4. Open default UDP port 7777 through the firewall and, at home, forward it on your router. If you run another server on the same machine, check its assigned next port.

In the game, open the public Worlds tab and search for the exact world name, including capitalization. Server name and world name are separate settings.

If the world is missing or cannot be joined

Compare the client version with the one in server logs, especially after a patch. Then check mandatory settings, world name and RSDragonwilds/Saved/Logs/RSDragonwilds.log. If the world appears but a friend cannot enter, test the UDP route and forwarding. Jagex also notes that Steam invitations to dedicated servers may not connect correctly; use the Worlds browser.
